The gifts are piling up. Cakes are baked, iced and stacked
waiting to be decorated. Groceries are in the fridge and cupboards. The house
is getting cleaned. Some little girl’s 1st birthday is coming up!
Emry will be a whole year old on Sunday. I am taking Friday
off to get ready for it. Mostly to decorate a cake. I haven’t decorated a cake
in about ten or so years since one of Sally’s friends gave us lessons (and I’m
pretty sure I was on the edge of failing). But stencils are very handy things.
Several hours to work on it very slowly will probably help, too. Vacuuming,
sweeping, mopping and putting things in their proper places won’t take half as
long as the cake.
On Friday we’re also going to get our one year old pictures
taken. We have our dresses, hair ribbons and shoes all ready. Since we’re
usually a very happy little girl, I’m not too worried that things will go awry.
Still, you never know!
On Saturday is our party. I will be very busy getting everything
ready as Ed is working all morning and then headed straight to the south of
city to collect the grandparents. Ed’s brother, his wife and their three girls
might stop by as well. All in all, a quiet party – but that’s okay. It will
still be plenty of fun!
And next week I will post pictures!
